Toppling the Idol of Ideal: Raising Children with Hidden Disabilities
The stats are changing. It’s no longer just the rare family who has the autistic child we read about in some magazine article or see on television.
Behavioral issues in children are no longer just about child raising and psychology. They are also about understanding and responding to a child's brain chemistry. Legitimate conditions such as ADD, ADHD, autism, OCD, Tourette’s syndrome, and others are on the rise. As parents raising children with these and other brain chemistry differences, we need compassionate voices who can listen and help us with practical issues:
Perhaps most importantly, we need assurance that our children will be okay and that we will survive spiritually as we grapple with the daily challenges. |
